A plant-based material story, documented by scope.
Ingeo is a NatureWorks polylactic acid (PLA) material platform made using renewable plant-based feedstock. FY Bedding develops pillows, quilts, comforters and related textile programs with PLA-based fibers selected for the required construction.
One material platform, different product constructions.
The fiber percentage and finished-product specification are not assumed. They are defined for each project and documented at the appropriate level.
PLA pillows
Fiber and velvet-style pillow constructions can be developed around fill weight, loft, firmness, shell fabric and target market.
Quilts & comforters
PLA-based filling options for quilted bedding, with weight, quilting pattern, shell and blend composition confirmed by specification.
Related textile programs
Company materials also present PLA applications for mattress protectors, sheets and other fiber-based home textile constructions.
Three different evidence levels.
This distinction is important: material credentials do not automatically certify every downstream product.
| Ingeo material | NatureWorks and Ingeo documentation describes the PLA material platform, renewable feedstock and material-level certifications or assessments. Material level |

| USDA BioPreferred notice | Application ID 10798, approved in March 2022, names HAPPY LIVING polylactic acid velvet and fiber pillows and records a 100% biobased content test result. Applicability is limited to the named products while formulation and program requirements remain satisfied. Named product level |
| SGS test report | Report SL52115283172601TX, dated July 15, 2021, covers the received polylactic acid pillow sample: a 100% cotton shell and 100% PLA filling, with reported tests including fiber content, formaldehyde, pH, odor, color fastness and azo amines. The report states that results apply only to the sample received. Tested sample level |
| Company brochure blend | The supplied Ingeo Down brochure describes one filling material containing 37% PLA. This is a different construction from the SGS-tested 100% PLA-fill pillow sample. Brochure formulation |
Specify the performance before choosing the percentage.
A good development brief starts with the intended product and user experience—not a generic environmental claim. We can then review fill composition, loft, warmth, hand feel, moisture behavior, wash care and cost.
- Confirm the exact PLA percentage and any blend components
- Define shell fabric, fill weight, construction and care method
- Identify destination-market labeling and testing needs
- Approve a physical sample before bulk production
- Match claims and documents to the final specification

Review the supplied material and product records.
Documents are provided for buyer review. Current validity and applicability should be reconfirmed against the exact product and order.
