A clear polybag may look like a simple packaging component, but its material, dimensions, seal route and loaded shape affect presentation, contamination protection, carton efficiency and handling. A seal that appears closed at the machine can contain narrow sections, trapped fabric, folds or heat damage that open later. Conversely, excessive heat or pressure can distort film, mark the bedding or make the package difficult to open through the intended route. Buyers should approve the bag with the actual folded product and case pack rather than accepting an empty-film sample. The specification needs to separate film identity, bag dimensions, closure construction, seal-band measurement, appearance and handling checks. Bag minimums, print or label setup and size sharing across SKUs should be reviewed before bulk because an apparently small change can create excess packaging stock or force an unapproved fit. Storage and transport conditions for empty bags also matter: creasing, dust and blocking can affect line handling before the seal is made. The approval sample should identify the exact SKU, fold, inserts, bag lot and carton configuration so inspection does not compare unlike packs. Destination-specific labeling or safety obligations must remain under qualified buyer review; they should not be replaced by generic wording from the packaging line. A staged inspection from incoming bags through packed units and cartons creates a stronger release record than one final photograph. 1. Define the bag and product scope

Film and dimensions must match the loaded bedding configuration

Record bag material, supplier reference, nominal thickness, finish, dimensions, opening direction, gusset or flap construction and permitted recycled-content or claim scope when applicable. Identify every bedding SKU, size, fold and included component using the bag. A package shared across products should be approved only when the loaded dimensions, closure route and presentation remain suitable. State buyer-owned artwork, labels, warnings and destination review separately from the physical seal specification. Do not publish or apply a legal statement without the buyer's qualified market review. If ventilation features, handles, adhesive strips or zippers are present, specify them as distinct functional components. 2. Specify the seal route and measurement method

Draw the closure path and identify primary seal, side or bottom seals, intersections, start and stop zones and any unsealed opening intended by design. Define where seal-band width is measured and whether the value refers to the fused band, distance from the cut edge or another project-specific reference. Measure at multiple named positions because a single center reading can miss taper, folds or narrow sections.

Specify visual conditions for continuous fusion, wrinkles, contamination, burn-through, holes, edge alignment and film distortion. If seal-strength testing is required, agree the specimen, conditioning, equipment and decision rule with the packaging specialist; do not substitute a casual hand pull for a formal result. Keep practical opening and handling checks as a separate route that reflects the customer or warehouse use case.

3. Approve the loaded package and product contact

Check that fabric, piping, zippers or card edges do not enter the seal area and that operators can present the product consistently without excessive compression. Review headspace, bag tension, corner stress, trapped air and the position of every component. Inspect the bedding after packing and opening for film blocking, abrasion, snagging, staining, odor transfer or visible pressure marks under the agreed conditions. This evidence supports the named trial; it does not establish performance for all temperatures, storage periods or transport events.

4. Inspect the packing line and case-pack interaction

Check bag identity, loaded SKU, seal position, width observations, appearance, count and operator sequence. Load approved units into the master carton and verify fit, orientation, compression, edge contact and reopening after the planned hold or handling trial. A bag that passes alone may buckle or rub when the case pack is too tight. Check units from the top, center and bottom of the carton because load pressure and contact points differ. After reopening, note whether the seal remains continuous and whether the bedding returns to the approved presentation without hidden damage. Retain the approved loaded bag and, where practical, a sealed unit or controlled cut section showing the closure.
